Tsunami of 2004 and how did a 10 year old girl saved lives of hundreds from this disaster

While yet another cyclon “Amphan” is about to hit coasts of India and Bangladesh, here is an interesting fact about Tsunami of year 2004 that claimed over 2 Million lives.

Tilly smith, a 10 year old girl, was on vacation with her parents and sister in Phuket, Thailand. While playing with sea waves, she noticed waves were coming in but not going out. The sea was fizzing and there was froth on the waves. She immediately recalled a video which her geography teacher showed her just two weeks ago about a hawaiian tsunami. She alerted her parents but they thought that it is just a bad weather.

On insisting, Tilly’s father alerted a japanese gaurd and he told them that she may be right because there is an earthquake in Indian ocean. After that, all the tourists present on the beach started running to the hotel in panic and that Phuket beach was one of very few beached which reported no casualties. Tilly was named “Child of the year” by French magazine. She was also named “miracle girl” and was invited to meet former US president Bill Clinton as part of a campaign to highlight the importance of education!!
